The team behind Capturing the Flag, a story about voter suppression and the power of citizen action, was planning to run a series of screenings and panels in the months leading up to the election to raise awareness about voting rights. Then, in a few short weeks, the country shut down. The issue of voter suppression was more important than ever, but without a way to gather in person, the team needed a novel plan and turned to Red Thread to deliver.
Red Thread immediately got to work building out a robust ‘Virtual Tour’ for the film. We created a partnership model for the programming, working with key non-profits in the space to reach broad audiences across differing demographics and forge dynamic panels with leaders in the space. Within a couple of months, we had created dozens of screenings over the summer, working with the ACLU, NAACP, Democrats Abroad, Common Cause, and many others.
Using our industry-standard virtual recording and switching software, IBM’s robust streaming platform, and the expertise of Red Thread’s seasoned television directors, these events have the quality and feel of a highly-produced broadcast program, for a fraction of the price. They allow seamless engagement and interaction between the members of the panel, and have interactive clickable links that drive viewers to specific, measurable Call-to-Actions.
With Red Thread’s guidance, the Capturing the Flag team has reached thousands more viewers than would have been possible with a traditional in-person event model, bringing light to a crucial issue for our democracy.
