The 24th, written and directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Willmott, is based on the true story of the all-black 24th U.S. Infantry Regiment in 1917 Houston, Texas. The film portrays the violent abuse the soldiers faced in Jim Crow-era Houston, as well as the uprising that formed as a result, which is known today as the Houston Riot of 1917. The 24th features searing performances from Trai Byers, Aja Naomi King, Thomas Haden Church, Mo McRae, Bashir Salahuddin, and Mykelti Williamson.
Red Thread cut the feature length film The 24th under the supervision of our post-production team, coordinating the VFX with our vendors in LA, sound mixing, ADR, as well as orchestrating in the various ADR, mixing and color timing/DI sessions.
Despite the challenge of the global pandemic hitting in the middle of post-production, our team was able to complete the film during the Covid-19 pandemic by utilizing several remote workflows without needing to apply any major changes to our infrastructure. With the task of seeing the film through completion so that it was finished on time and on budget, our team discovered new and creative ways to successfully finish post-production and editing, as well as prepare the film to be delivered to the distributor. Red Thread was involved in the film for a total of 14 months.
